During this retreat Alan Wallace focuses on two shamatha methods most commonly emphasized in the Dzogchen tradition:

1] Settling the mind in its natural state, in which one attends to thoughts and other mental events, and

2] Shamatha without a sign, in which one rests in awareness of awareness itself.

Instruction in these two methods was based on teachings by Dudjom Lingpa, Lerab Linga, and Padmasambhava.

The Dzogchen approach to vipashyana focuses especially on cultivating insight into the empty and luminous nature of the mind, and instruction on this practice was based on the teachings of Padmasambhava.

Through such practices, we can explore the inner stillness, emptiness, and luminosity of awareness, which can prepare us for fully realizing the deepest dimension of awareness, primordial consciousness.

This retreat is suitable for both Buddhists and non-Buddhists.
